The Maasai DO NOT benefit from natural resources in their midst.
Anglo Maasai Treaties has violated our rights rights to lands and natural resources thus minimizing our chances of surviving any kind of change. Keeping our normal lifestyle isn’t either an alternative since we do not own any land neither do we have resources to buy any while our population is expected to rise. The lands were sequestered to British ex servicemen and mobility.
There was no compensation for, neither was there restitution after independence.
This is violation of Maasai natural resources and grazing areas for their livestock.
We are requesting the president to recognize our plight.
The squatters of Mukogodo reserve are asking the president to give us land.
The land on which Mukogodo people occupy is barren.
It has limited chances of supporting our community. It has become over grazed by both goats, sheep, donkeys and cows. This animals die during long droughts and famines since animal marketing is very poor.
Masses of unused land must be acquired by the government and be relocated to to needy people.
Programs to develop acquired land will be formulated.
Our people are living on handouts and relief food. It is a shame to our government when Maasai culture is as valiable to the tourist department as any other resource.
Environmental rights.
We all have the right to equality. Our culture is vital but it is dying out at an alarming rate It is almost only practised for tourist entertainment. Maasai people must be given equal opportunities to intergrate their culture with that of the mordern world.
It is necessary that harmful practises like FGM that destroy the future of our children must be officially redresses.
Our daughters and sisters are systematically put into danger because of female circumcission. FGM should be eradicated with immidiate effect.
Young men and women are saying NO to FGM.
The speaker of the national assembly, Ole Kaparo, who comes from the area is not supporting FGM. But he is NON-Partiisan as usual thus not doing anything to help us.
Recommendation
The Anglo-maasai treaties that led to the lost of land and natural resources such as The white highlands violates our social economic rights must be ligally tackled under democratic fair and well supervised terms. Revenue from tourism and other natural resources from Maasailand must be invested to improving the lives of Maasai people and those other communities living within the region People must benefit from resources within their jurisdiction. The government should also consider the ratifications of international convention that observe
the rights of indigenous peoples and minorities i.e. the UN draft declaration on the rights of
indigenous peoples and ratify the ILO convention 169(10
on rights of indigenous peoples.
In case of impossibilities to return lost land to Maasai, then restitution and compensation
should be mandatory.
Private companies that are operating with pastoralist areas must create employments opportunities to locals instegad of importing workers Wien 99.9 persent of the Laikipia youth are jobless.
The game park and privately own huge lands sorrounding Mukogodo shall contribute to our survival. Dormant land must be allocated to landless needy people.
Land acquired through criminal means must be returned to the people of Kenya.
Infrustrature developement, heath facilities should be considered very important for our people.
Training, health and veterinary personel in pastoral areas should also be prioritized like in other places.
HIV virus is spreading fast and can be a disastrous ina few years time if nothing is done to stop the spread.
Resources fetched from Mukogodo like sand and livestock must be rightfully valued.
We are asking the president to imposse high taxes for these land owners in the neighbourhood in order to contribute towards community developement .
They have gained from our ignorance for a centuary now but we are now saying STOP!
All agreement to be entered 80% of the community members must be consulted.
The Maasai’s of Laikipia can disappear from the survice of this earth if the government doe not consider their plight as genuine.

presumption of guilt is unfair and even immoral because it allows the strategic targeting of any individual, since it’s often difficult to firmly establish proof of innocence
Why is it so easy to speak the language of cruelty? According to the report by standard, 200 people, mostly innocent youth have been slaughtered by police without any whatsoever justice applied. Who is giving orders for Kenyans
to murdered without trial?
Why is Kenya so cruel? Violence can never win apart from putting a stop to some lives on earth and not necessarily terminating ideas of those people.
If The kenyan homeland security thinks that Mungiki is a group of primitive extortioners, who in some barbaric ways kills innocent people why don’t they try to teach them the language of a civilized society owing to the fact that this people are kenyans and Kenya for that matter has done very little to teach it’s people about fundamental human rights, like for instance freedom of Expressive Associations and religion.
why allow the killing of your own citizens? At home and Internationally, the act of the Kenyan police is as equally primitive or even more than than that of those poor un educated Mungiki fellows. (More)
