“The House may be dissolved in October in readiness for the December General Election and therefore has only two months of serious business.”

Mr Kaparo’s hint comes after the  extension of ongoing voter registration to July 31.

Yesterday, the Speaker also expressed concern that MPs were not giving House business due attention and had started early campaigns for their seats.

Political survival

Mr Kaparo noted that the major interest of majority of the leaders was political survival.

He was referring to public rallies by the Orange Democratic Party of Kenya leaders and the recently concluded Narc-Kenya grass roots elections.

Said the Speaker: “No serious House business can be transacted under the prevailing environment marked with persistent lack of quorum.”

He was speaking at Mpala Research Centre during the Laikipia Wildlife Forum annual general meeting.

He singled out the Wildlife Conservation Bill as among legislation that may not be debated and passed before dissolution of the House despite calls that it be enacted.
