What is the purpose of the Kenyan Government to the people of North Kenya?
One of the most fundamental functions of a government, I believe, is to secure our unalienable Rights. Among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Watch the video at the end of this note and tell me if the government of Kenya fulfils this to the people of the whole of North Kenya.
This is the part of the country that is most neglected and one of the reasons is because it offers very little value, economy-wise to the rest of the country. That said, people, who count themselves as Kenyans, still live in these areas. They are doing the best they can given the conditions they have been brought up in. Their livelihood is based on pastoralism and when that fails, they have no other means, known to them that they can fall on. Don’t mention the fact that they should be discarding their livestock for better means of living because, first I am aware of this and second there are few options where they are. If it is about jobs, where is someone who hasn’t been to school expected to find a job?
I know there are a lot of things these guys should be doing for themselves, like sending their kids to school, going into small businesses, keeping fewer animals so that they don’t destroy the environment, practicing modern means of livestock keeping etc. Trust me, few of these can be done under the conditions in which they live in.
So, to my point. the only other person/institution left to help when these people cannot help themselves is the GOVERNMENT OF KENYA. If the situation portrayed in this video is not a NATIONAL CRISIS, tell me what is! The government doesn’t have money, you may say. Please, we know better. They are sitting on millions and millions, most of which is often wasted on other useless endeavours. If these guys were keen on helping, all necessary GOVERNMENT RESOURCES would have been deployed to these areas, and not some few truck loads of yellow maize.
WAKE UP KIBAKI, WAKE UP RAILA, WAKE UP LESIRIMA, WAKE UP something else which will stop the dying of our people!

Introduce A BLANC VOTE. Can the Smburu people claim that their political leaders are doing enough to defend their human rights? Some Samburu leaders have been occupying top positions for ages but still, they play no role in Samburu’s endeavours. Non-decision making is very dangerous for us. The idea of not making any political decision is a decision by itself and our politicians are aware of it.Why are our politicians docile? Which ones are active? What can they show us that they have done for us? How are our leaders reacting to the current suffering of the Samburu people? With all due respect for the political leaders, we cannot continue to vote in people who do absolutely nothing for us. Our votes are so crucial for our survival. Lets us use them well. We need things like water points and schools, roads things we can touch and feel. Security against intimidation, theft of our livelihood, killings and fraud. We want clinics financed by the community development funds…. Ask your political leader what he or she has done since they were elected… Please, this is our duty to put them on their toes…
