Dear Parents of Maasai Nation ,

We the youths of Maasai Nation are angry and furious with you.

Fine fine, you took us to school, blah blah blah blah.

You sold our land for Ksh 4000 to 40,000 per acre. Then it was subdivided and sold as plots by others who made whooping profits.

As our Councillors you turned into ravenous monkeys devouring our land and plots and selling them for pittance.

As our councillors, you mortgaged our resources.

For Ksh 250,000, and a trip abroad, you mortgaged Maasai Mara to Equity bank.

I guess you learnt a lot from Laibon Lenana.

You sat there and watched while Maasai Nation’s Narok is turned into one big sewerage system. Plastic bags, condoms, cans, ugly unplanned buildings.

You sat there while you watched Narok ravaged by floods due to lack of drainage systems.

You sat there and watched our Rivers turned into quarries

You sat there and watched as the hospital sewer and the prison sewer drained into our holy rivers.

You sat there and watched our wetlands in Nairagie Enkare turned into wheat farms

You sat there while you watched our Narok wetland turned into plots and jua kali place.

It used to be a beautiful place filled with papyrus reeds, birds, reptiles, frogs and other exotic live forms.

You sat there and watched our once pristine Mau Forest turn into a desert.

You sat there and watched 3 men taking over 200,000 acres of land for themselves while the rest of us have no land.

You sat there and watched our wildlife corridors blocked by fences on all directions thus curtailing trans frontier animal migration. You turned their homes into zoos.

Can you understand our anger?

Fine you took us to school but then who runs the show? The illiterate bunch. They walk the corridors of power. They have no strategic plans for Narok. Just look at all the chaos. Then they turn around and boast about their achievements despite being illiterate. It comes at a price you know.

Ask any youth and they have something negative to say about their so called “Colonial Minded Parents” who don’t listen to the youth.

They talk tough but act silly.

They give birth to many children and then abandon them without insurance. Ever heard of a trust fund?

You have been told time and time again that FGM is not good for our girls yet you continue with the practice. Who wants a tree trunk for a wife? Is it wonder that we marry from other communities?

Some of you are molesters of your own daughters. Shame on you.

And now you are leaving us with the dirty job of demonstrating for our stolen land. And for that we get killed and assassinated.

We want to tell you this, we have had enough of your crap.

Cede power to the youth and they will show you what leadership is all about.

Since independence the Nairagie Road has never been fixed.

The Mara Road has never been fixed. I hear the elders put a curse on it if it is constructed. Well, to hell with your curse. We shall build those roads.

The Nakuru Road, my God!!!! Ever since I was a kid its always been a bumpy and muddy road to get to Nakuru, Olokurto etc. Shame on you leaders concerned.

You have fooled us with your honey coated tongues for so long. Beneath that coat is bitterness worse than quinine.

You have fooled our people with your gift of the gab, eeh mastery of the Maa language, clever and wise sounding idioms, riddles, poetry mmm how nice. But beneath it all is the stupidity of the highest order.

You sat there and watched as Laikipia is colonized.

You sat there and watched as Oloitokitok is colonized.

You sat there and watched as Kajiado is colonized.

You sat there and watched as Ngon’g is colonized.

You sat there and watched as Samburu is colonized.

You are sitting and watching as Narok is being colonized.

As we fight for independence, you turn your backs on us.

Some of you made your money from the corrupt system.

You sold Mau forest trees.

You sold and continue to sell charcoal from our Leleshwa and Lerai trees.

The colonial system has been kind to you, You have made it.

but what about us?

What chance do we have to survive in a world that’s no longer ours.

what chance I ask, do we have when our own cannot even buy from us?

What chance do we have when we are IDP’s in our own lands brought about by you greed and alcoholism?

You have millions in investments but your son runs a third rate nyama choma kiosk snatched from a poor hard working business man.

Shouldn’t your son be managing a major value add industry or something?

You have neglected your children, who now roam the streets of Narok due to your colonial mentality. If you gave them the right responsibilities, they’d be high fliers.

You failed to give them value systems.

Be rest assured that everything you have stolen from our people shall be returned.

We shall rise again like the Phoenix from the ashes.

We shall sort your sordid mess.

WE THE YOUTH HAVE PUT A CURSE ON YOU.

But there is something you can do to lift the curse.

1. DO NOT VIE FOR LEADERSHIP IN 2012 – WE SHALL EMBARRASS YOU.

2. DO NOT SELL ANY MORE OF OUR LAND. WE HAVE PLANS FOR IT. THE NEW COUNTYS WILL PROVIDE DEVELOPMENT LOANS

3. DO NOT LEASE OUR LAND FROM 2012 – THE NEW COUNTY GOVERNMENT WILL PROVIDE FINANCING TO OUR YOUTH.

4. DO NOT TRANSACT ANY BUSINESS ON OUR BEHALF WITHOUT CONSULTING US. WE DON’T TRUST YOU.

YOUTH BE WARE, IF YOUR PARENT SELLS LAND, PLEASE PROTEST, OR LET US KNOW.

THE YOUTH ARE NOT SPARED EITHER

We know many of you that have been fortunate enough to have wealthy parents but what do you do?

You are utterly irresponsible.

You roam the streets of Narok from bar to bar drinking alcohol and having illicit sex.

You have what we call “Mlevi Face”. Shame on you.

You flash your money around like it grows on trees.

You harvest your wheat and when you sell it, you run to the bar with a Wanjiku on tow forgetting that your wife and kids is waiting for you back at home.

You get drugged, your ears locked to the bed, and you wake up the next morning naked and faeces spread all over you.

Oh and you my Maasai Parents, you own 1000 herds of cattle but you live in Manyatta made from cow shit. Not my words, the late Pastor Segel of course.

Those cows are enough to build you a decent housing for your family. But what do you do when you sell one cow? You rush to Fuck Filla” for a week. How gross. Yuck. You make us sick.

Shish this is too much, you sell land for chang’aa and then turn into watchmen. Nyinyi munahitaji viboko. Mushindwe kabisa!

So before you start blaming “outsiders” look within you first.

My dear youth, 2012 is your last chance for redemption. You lose this chance to change your lives for the better, then this cycle will go on and on and on.

Identify visionary and progressive leaders.

Its not going to be business as usual. We have a dirty house to clean guys and dolls.

The mess, the murk, the stench, the ugly buildings…

Can you feel me?

We are in no way suggesting that we chase away anybody. We have a plan to accommodate every body. Good for the economy you know.

Yours faithfully,

Disgruntled sons and daughters.
